Misión del cargo:

The Scientist position reports directly to the Head Scientist and leads the research project. The primary responsibility of this role is to design and execute wet lab experiments that lead to the successful completion of a project. This role is expected to participate in designing new enzymatic tools and applications in the fast-evolving fields of biotechnology. The candidate for this position must be adaptable and agile to switch between projects.

Funciones del cargo:

1. Participate in R&D Projects:

• Participate in the design and planning of research projects along with other members of the research team
• Design and execute wet lab experiments
• Actively participate in monthly and quarterly meetings to update progress made in R&D projects.
• Agility to move to other projects in the innovation pipeline when and if needed.

2. Planning and Execution of experiments:

• Design and plan needed experiments in conjunction with the Head Scientist.
• Grow, express, and purify recombinant proteins following current protocols and project needs.
• Design and execute activity assays of different enzymes by current protocols and project needs.
• Preparation of media, buffers, agar plate, etc, as needed.
• Optimize existing methodologies in all aspects of research being done.
• Maintain reagents and supplies by notifying the Lab Manager of any new orders.
• Analyze and share results with the rest of the project team for decision-making.

3. Knowledge transfer to other areas within the company:

• Draft and share detailed protocols for the newly developed processes by our quality management system.
• Execute newly developed protocols with other members of the team for knowledge transfer.

4. Interaction with members of the business unit:

• Support the post-sales troubleshooting initiatives when needed.
• Support troubleshooting within the company with the production and quality team.

Requisitos:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field in bio-science is required.
• Desired postgraduate degree, related and applicable to biotech (MSc or PhD).

Language:

• Full professional proficiency in English, Low Advanced level (C1).

Experience:

• For applicants without a postgraduate degree: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in biotech research is required.
• For applicants holding a Master's in Science, 2 years of experience in relevant fields is required, and if holding a PhD, no additional experience is necessary.
• Experience in method development using FPLC or HPLC.
• Experience in microbial fermentation, bioreactors, and/or expression and purification of recombinant proteins.
• Experience in enzymatic assays and enzyme kinetics.
